BERNER KLAVIERTRIO
With a subtle blend of irony, elegance, and rhythmic energy, the Berner Klaviertrio opens the 2026 Piano Trio Fest at the Zentrum Paul Klee. Beethoven’s rarely performed Cockatoo Variations meet Frank Martin’s Irish-inspired trio fantasy, celebrating the 100th anniversary of its premiere, before Saint-Saëns’s passionate Trio No. 1 concludes the evening with French clarity, spirited playfulness, and dramatic turns. The result is a programme that moves between humour, folk inspiration, and virtuosity, while also highlighting the Berner Klaviertrio’s ongoing commitment to Switzerland’s classical chamber-music tradition.
In its new line-up, the ensemble presents itself as an even stronger ambassador of the Bernese chamber-music tradition – rooted in the Swiss musical landscape and active on both national and international stages.
