BERNER KLAVIERTRIO
With a subtle blend of elegance, irony and rhythmic energy, the Berner Klaviertrio opens the 2026 Piano Trio Fest at the Zentrum Paul Klee.
As one of the composer’s early works, Saint-Saëns’s Piano Trio No. 1 reveals French clarity and youthful spirit, before Beethoven’s relatively rarely performed Cockatoo Variations and Frank Martin’s Irish Trio Fantasy are heard after the intermission, the latter marking the centenary of its premiere this year.
This programme unfolds between humour, folk melody and virtuosity. In its new formation, the Berner Klaviertrio presents a fresh sound and shared curiosity, firmly rooted in the Swiss musical landscape and active on both national and international stages.
