An incredibly bad rehearsal the day before our first performance, where I fled at the first available moment with the words "we'll do the rest with talent!"...


3. The nicest compliment that was given to you as a group/ensemble.

The sublime silence in the hall after the last note


4. Which chamber music ensemble do you admire?

The Beatles


5. What do you think makes a musician "great"?

You want some kind of cooking recipe? The following ingredients:
The right attitude, talent, courage, independence, discipline, charisma, powers of observation, craftsmanship, fortune, unbreakable passion and love for music and people as well as the ability to remain willing and able to learn to the end.


6. What profession would you choose if you weren't a musician?

7. If you could choose one person in the story who would it be and why.

8. Your special rituals before a concert.

Resting tensely, not speaking many words, drinking plenty of water and peeing several times. Plus two bananas.


9. What would you recommend to a boy or girl who wants to follow the same path as you.

Do not plan a life as a musician. Either you are - or you never will.

10. Please tell us in a few lines about the program you will play at Piano Trio Fest 2021.

I have always loved Mendelssohn. Unfortunately, today he is somewhat overshadowed by his very great composer colleagues. However, his two piano trios are undisputedly among the most important contributions in the history of the genre. Main works for the capital!

With the Oliver Schnyder Trio, the Piano Trio Fest 2021 invites the most renowned trio in Switzerland to Bern, bringing together the concert masters and solo cellists of the Tonhalle Orchestra with the Bern Symphony Orchestra (the Bern Piano Trio) in the opening and closing concerts.


At the end of the festival, the top-class musicians of the Oliver Schnyder Trio offer us the unique opportunity to hear Felix Mendelssohn's two piano trios in the same concert. These works are among the most important of their genre and are to be performed in Bern's beautiful French Church.
